Big Ol'Boys Glamour

Film stars of the 40's and 50's were expected to pose for glamour shots. These shots became increasingly risque over the period. By the mid-fifties for the first time pinup models became famous in their own right, whilst many so-called movie stars became more famous through their pinup shots than their films. In this selection we picked out our favourites from Diana Dors, Mamie Van Doren, Sabrina, Lili St Cyr, Bettie Bosmer and many other stars and starlets of the period. Sadly many of these icons of their era are largely forgotten, so we decided to create this reminder to era of blonde hair and big tits. We've also changed our usual background to something more suitable. Sadly Packard Bob believes women like this still exist and is spending many fruitless hours searching for them in the local pubs. (Sad fact 23: the chrome pointed over-riders on the bumpers of fifties cars were named after the assets of a model of the period; her name Dagmar)

  Diana Dors
For a time in the mid fifties Diana was Britain's answer to Marilyn. It is likely that if you pick up a movie magazine of the period there will an article on Diana, the media coverage in the UK was immense. She had all the attributes: the peroxide blonde hair, the hour glass figure. She was a great self publicist, with her mink bikini in Venice or the semi nude 3-d booklet, and as a result got great tabloid coverage. Sadly, with a few exceptions, her film material did not deliver. This was probably a reflection of her management and the ambition of the British film industry at the time.

  Sabrina
I guess quite a few of you will not be familiar with Sabrina. She was a UK TV sex symbol and model from the UK in the fifties. She appeared on prime time TV with the comedian Arthur Askey, and as a consequence became a nationwide success. This success was totally based on her two most obvious assets. She seems almost out of step with our view, now, of cosy post war Britain. For a few years she and Diana Dors were the nations sex symbols, now she is largely forgotten.
