Packard Bob's Bit

 

One of the Big Ol'Boys is Packard Bob. This is the story of one 1956 Packard 400 undergoing a full restoration. The project started in 1998 and is ongoing.

This is the only complete 55/56 Packard known of in the UK. One 56 Clipper minus original engine; we've got that. One 55 400 with a front end smash and trim missing and one 55 Caribbean awaiting re-assembly are the others Packard Bob is aware of. The 56 Clipper is for sale. The 55 400 has been found in a garage in South London, only slightly the worse for wear. This 400 has been added to the Big Ol'Boys collection. Whether this is a parts car or it eventually gets the full treatment remains to be seen.

Each part or component is being renewed or rebuilt to as new. The problem is why? This started out with the intention of being a quick Kustom, with a simple matt black blow over paint job. Somewhere the plot got lost. The car has been repainted in original scheme. The suspension has renewed. The chrome is all back from the platers. The engine is now being rebuilt and detailed, and hopefully re-fitted soon.
